Join award-winning poet, artist, and scholar Stephen Massimilla and professional chef and graduate culinary nutrition instructor Myra Kornfeld for an entertaining event based on their gorgeous new volume Cooking with the Muse. Join us for a very happy hour (and more) all about what poets—from Homer to Rumi to Dickinson to Neruda to Heaney to Walcott to Elizabeth Alexander to Massimilla and Kornfeld themselves—can teach you about eating well and wisely and getting plenty of satisfaction.

Includes live music, full bar, scrumptious organic treats from the book, and even a raffle for a private cooking class!

Stephen Massimilla is a poet, scholar, professor, and painter. Acclaim for his other books includes an SFASU Press Prize for The Plague Doctor in His Hull-Shaped Hat; the Bordighera/CUNY Poetry Prize for Forty Floors from Yesterday; the Grolier Poetry Prize for Later on Aiaia; and a Van Rensselaer award, selected by Kenneth Koch. He holds an MFA and a PhD from Columbia University and teaches at Columbia University and The New School. 

Myra Kornfeld is a chef, educator, and the author of three previous cookbooks, The Healthy Hedonist, The Healthy Hedonist Holidays, and The Voluptuous Vegan. She teaches in the Graduate Nutrition Program at the Maryland University of Integrative Health and at the Natural Gourmet Institute, and she is head chef for the website She specializes in cooking parties and team-building events. 

COOKING WITH THE MUSE: A Sumptuous Gathering of Seasonal Recipes, Culinary Poetry, and Literary Fare (Tupelo Press) comprises a complete cookbook with 150 international recipes, a wide-ranging anthology of culinary poems, the equivalent of a complete book of new food poems and poetic prose pieces by the authors, and 200 color photos; it also contains enlightening essays, lore, and notes on the poetry of food.
