Now more than ever, words matter. And now more than ever, we need your support.
When the Poetry Society of America (PSA) was founded in 1910, it was the nation's first nonprofit devoted to the art. Now, for over a century, the PSA has worked tirelessly to place poetry at the crossroads of American life. Our signature initiative Poetry in Motion, which places poems on subways and buses around the country, reaches millions of people each and every day. What our work provides—unique and unexpected opportunities to engage with dynamic, excellent literature as a community, and to find private meaning in the midst of public places—remains precious to so many around the country.
But we cannot do this work without your generous partnership. Please help us ensure the place of poetry in American life for 2017 and years to come.
Thank you for your enduring belief in the importance of poetry.
PS: As an expression of our warm thanks, the first 75 people to make gifts of $35 or more will receive a copy of Four Reincarnations, the late poet Max Ritvo's debut volume of poems from Milkweed Press. Max was a recipient of the PSA's 2015 Chapbook Fellowship. His book is a treasure, and a gift to the PSA can bring it to you.
